Last week, we decided to go to the drive in on Saturday. But when I looked at the offerings at the drive in this weekend, I wasn’t exactly happy.

Well, maybe. Not that I want to see either of these movies, but…

Option 3:

New Moon & Where the Wild Things Are

Well, we have wanted to see Where the Wild Things Are for a long time now… And since I knew I’d eventually see New Moon, I wrote this option off as well.

I emailed the options to FM. And I was very suprised when he texted me and chose Option 3. I immediately texted him back and made sure he understood he was actively choosing to watch New Moon. And that it was the big movie this weekend, and it could be crazy busy.  He didn’t care. He was really just picking to watch Where the Wild Things Are. Alrighty then…

I was a little concerned that it would be insanely busy since New Moon has been sold out at every regular movie theater all weekend. Wow, was I wrong. By the time the movie started, the lot was not even half full. Heck, I doubt it was 1/3 full.

Watching New Moon with FM was significantly less painful than I expected. Besides having to explain the entire background of the Twilight series and who people were, I thought the movie was okay. I liked the first one better. I doubt “like” would be a phrase FM would use to explain New Moon. I’m pretty sure he views it as 130 relatively painful minutes of his life that he’ll never get back.

Apparently most of the people there were only there to see New Moon. Half of the cars drove out when the movie was over. Heh. The movie we really wanted to see hadn’t even started yet!

Where the Wild Things Are was AWESOME. Awesome. So funny. I have to be honest here and admit that I’ve never read the book. I have no idea how I’ve never read it, but I really went into the movie knowing nothing about the story. But I’ll be getting the book for Little C and making sure she gets to read it. Definitely.

I received a text from Lili this morning. All it said was that she sent me a link to a video of Little C’s new skill…

Not having seen Little C in FOREVER. I had no idea what to expect. I’ve learned recently that she apparently loves the baby-type food carrots. As in loves, loves, loves. (We’ll get back to the food shortly.)

She apparently also likes to stand up. I’m missing so much. (We’ll also get back to the what I’m missing shortly too.)

The video was of my baby girl CLAPPING. With her mommy saying “Yay LittleC” in the background. It wasn’t an entirely coordinated clapping. But gosh darn was she trying. And she did it. And it was awesome. (OH! and I saw the toys I took Little C in the background of not only the video, but in recent pics too! Who knew a random purchase would be so awesome!! Not me, that’s for sure. But I’ll take it!)

So the food… as of Thursday, we LOVE carrots. And green beans were next on the list. When I talked to Lili on Thursday night, she put me on speaker-phone so I could say hi to Little C. I said hi and then told her carrots were awesome, but green beans are my favorite vegetable. Lili said Little C held the phone (even though I was on speaker) and had a big smile on her face. So I hope green beans went well. For Thanksgiving? Little C is having sweet potatoes. Yum. I hope she loves them.

As for what I’ve missed. I wish I could make up all the time. Instead, I search for fun, educational toys online right now.

I’m only in Florida Wednesday AM through Saturday AM. The whole extended in-law fam will be there Thursday. But Lili and Little C (and I assume NE, but not sure) are spending all day Friday at my parents house. I’ve warned my mom that I might kick her and my dad out of the house so I get the whole day with Little C. I’m so jealous that they get to see Lili, Little C and NE more often than I do…  But who am I kidding? It’s more fun to see us all together. And I know my little lovely will be entertaining us the whole time I’m there.

Only 4 days. I can’t wait.

Ok. I lied. The title for this post should really be “Amazingly Boring” or something like that.

Why?

Because it’s a Friday night. And instead of going to happy hour with the ruggers or to Blogfest with my online friends, I decided to avoid the chaos and traffic from Light Up Night and stay home.

I hit up a nearby Red Box and rented Up and Star Trek. Here’s a hint for all you Red Box newbies – rent your movie ONLINE! You just swipe your card, it spits out your DVDs and you’re done!

So I’m going to go back to watching Up. Have a good weekend everyone!

I’ve admitted that I have a problem when it comes to fabric. Seriously. It’s just overwhelming. And that’s just at Joann’s!

A friend has asked me to maybe make a quilt for her. We’ve discussed some fabrics, and tonight I decided to go to a local quilt shop, The Quilt Company, and see what they had. They didn’t have all of what I was hoping to find, but I didn’t walk out empty handed. I found some nifty fat quarters…

Yep. The Beatles. I've seen this fabric online for the past year. I bought TWO fat quarters. Probably will end up as a gift for my mom... (LILI? Any suggestions?)

There is another reason I went to this shop. It was to sort of prepare myself for next Wednesday. After I arrive in Florida, my parents and I are stopping at Rainbow’s End Quilt Shoppe in Dunedin, FL. It’s like the paradise of quilt fabrics.

I really don't see how I can make it through this store in just an hour or so...

THIS is what I saw. Basically a WALL of Fat Quarters. This won't end well. And there are more scattered throughout the store.

Thankfully, I am WELL AWARE that I am unemployed and can maybe spend $10 at this shop.  And that’s pushing it.

But, wow, I’m going to be in heaven when I walk into that store! I could spend multiple hours on that Fat Quarter wall alone. No kidding.

I think we have our heads right and will have totals on Brewfest within a day or two. And surveys are being sent out. Whatcha think? If you get the survey, please tell us. Good or bad. It’s just so much to deal with, even after everything that led up to the event. As a responsible event planner, I’m trying to check back with our attendees… Two years ago? I never thought of this. Now, it’s another responsibility.

And yet, some ruggers didn’t work and hid from us so they didn’t have to work. That? Hurts. It hurts me a ton, especially since I said all along, you work all night, you don’t pay – and unsaid, I’d have loved you forever as a rugger. I know who worked. And who hid. And who hid and did work. And who just tried to drink their faces off while pretending to work.

Those of you in the hid & worked category, you’re ok. I’m not pleased, but I’ll deal with it. Kudos to you!!! I thank you – thirty times over! Thank you!!

Those of you who I KNOW didn’t work? Or who pretended & drank? I’m so disappointed with you. Honestly, that should make you feel worse than those who didn’t work.

I might be a task-master and make you think you work your a** off. But in reality, the rest of us have been working for months behind the scenes. And for you to be unable to give us 2-3 hours of work? I AM SO DISAPPOINTED in you as a human being.

Those of you who have seen me working at My Living Room and yelling in the past, or have seen me at Coopers Lake, or saw me yelling at Brewfest, that yelling is nothing to being let down and what I feel towards my clubmates for this. So disappointed.

There were a number that I didn’t expect to show up & work – and they did. In mass numbers! I kid you not! I have pictures from others to prove it. I’m proud, so proud, of those people. They proved me wrong. I LOVE being proved WRONG.

I hate being let down.

In one week, I’ll be packing for another trip to Florida. I have no idea what I’m taking. What I love about Thanksgiving in Florida is that it doesn’t really matter what I pack. I’m usually presentable, and we don’t do much but hang out, so I’m all good.

I DO know that I’m super excited to see my mom and dad.

And I’m super excited to see Lili and NE.

And I’m about to explode with excitement to see my Little C. My Little C who can sit on her own, ride in a swing and who (as of today) loves carrots! Woot! I can’t believe she’s six months old.

I am so excited to see her and do whatever I can to help my sister have a day or two off. I can’t wait for some fun play time, and dinner time, and more play time, and maybe some talking and story time. Whatever I can get, really.

And play with my favorite dog, D, too!! We’ll take some super fun walks, of course.

Over Thanksgiving, I have to find out what Christmas gifts to get everyone. Everyone except for D. I already know what I’m getting for her. And I have two separate things for Little C too. (Lili, you already know about Little C’s gifts.)

Give Christmas Crazy is an effort by my friend BurghBaby to spread some Christmas Crazy around to those maybe a little less fortunate than ourselves.

Now, the goal was $1000. The collection is now at over $2,500.00! I think yesterday was the deadline to donate, but I could be wrong.

I will be spending at least one day with BurghBaby, shopping for toys and whatnot and helping her deliver things. I’m super excited to do this! Who doesn’t like buying toys!?!?! And helping kids?!?!? What a great time!!

So, please donate if you can, and help BurghBaby make this the best Christmas ever for some kids!!

Brewfest is over! Done! Whew.

Things went really well. Cindy Lou and I did a bang up job!!

I don’t have exact numbers yet, tickets still need to be returned. Hopefully by December I’ll have totals. Oy.

But things went really well. I am happy that things turned out so great.

I have to figure out where some random thingts went, and I found a jacket that doesn’t belong to me in my stuff.

I’m just happy it’s over.

Now? I have to keep trying to find a job and get ready to go see my Little C in just under two weeks. Sweet.

I’ve said multiple times recently that I’m trying to finish up a sewing project. And I finally did. And I mailed it out. And the recipient received everything yesterday. And loves it!

So what was it?

Well, way back in the Spring, Lili asked me to make a bib set for her best friend. I couldn’t find the fabric she requested, and given that it’s her best friend since high school – a bib set just didn’t seem like the right thing for me to make for her. So I offered an alternative- a quilt for the baby.

Lili and I went out when I visited in June and selected fabrics. I was going to use the same quilt pattern that I used for Little C’s quilt, but I was going to change up a few things.

The end result? I love it. If it wasn’t for this particular friend, I’d totally keep it for myself!

I’m so happy with this quilt. These nifty squares that I made really turned out cool! And it was my first attempt at trying to make them! I made some of them “technically” wrong, but they still worked out – and combined with the other bigger squares, they totally gave the quilt the look I was going for!!
